There are some moments that touch me deeply as both a photographer and a friend. Capturing this maternity session was one of those rare and beautiful experiences—because the glowing mama and dad-to-be are two of my most dear friends. Watching them step into this new season of parenthood for the first time felt tender, magical, and so full of love and hope. It was an honor to preserve these moments for them in a place that already means so much: the breathtaking Teton Valley.
Near Targhee
We started the evening near Targhee with the Tetons rising in the distance, bathed in that golden light that makes the valley feel alive. There’s something powerful about a mountain backdrop—it mirrors the strength and steady presence of parenthood that lies ahead. With every laugh, quiet glance, and hand resting gently on her growing belly, I could feel the love between them anchoring these photos in something timeless.
Standing in the River
As the sun lowered, we waded into the river—the cool mountain water, laughter echoing between us. It was playful and raw, the kind of moment that perfectly embodies the wild beauty of both nature and early parenthood. There’s something sacred about water—its flow, its life-giving nature—and photographing them there felt symbolic of the new chapter they are about to begin.
Farm Field at Dusk
To finish, we moved into a quiet farm field. The soft, dusky glow wrapped around us, creating the most intimate and heartfelt images. The stillness of the field seemed to hold space for them, allowing me to capture the quiet anticipation of two people about to welcome a little soul earthside.
