Golden Session

The short story

Birth is wild, intense, beautiful, and often a blur. Many parents remember only fragments of their experience. Birth photography captures both the powerful and tender moments—the support of your partner, the emotion on your face, the strength it takes to keep going, and the incredible moment you meet your baby.

Many clients are moved to tears seeing their photos for the first time. Like a wedding, birth is a day you’ll never forget. Professional photography helps beautifully preserve those memories for a lifetime.

Why should I hire a birth photographer?

How long until my photos are ready?

Waiting for photos is the hardest part. This is why I send 5 sneak peek photos within 24 hours and begin working hard on your full gallery right away. My goal is to have your full gallery ready  for you within 2 weeks.

+ How many births do you take each month?

I typically will not take more than 1-2 births a month. This ensures that I can honor my commitments to each family while also remaining very present for my own young family.

Do you offer videography?

Yes! I love creating films. Let me know if you'd like to add a 4-6 minute birth film to your package.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes- I do offer payment plans! Though the commitment and skill required to both document and support births is reflected in my pricing, I still never want a family to miss out on capturing their birth story due to financial constraints. I am happy to chat through payment arrangements and options that may best serve your family.

Do you use flash at births?

I most likely will use flash at some point during your birth. Birth spaces are often quite dark and in order to get you sharp, fully focused photos of your birth some light is required. I will do my best to avoid using flash unless absolutely necessary and will never aim it directly at you or your baby- but rather bounce it behind from off a wall or ceiling. Most mamas never even notice it, myself included at my own birth.

When do you arrive for a birth?

I aim to arrive once you are in active labor. If you are having cervical checks this is around 6 centimeters dilated. If checks aren’t being done, we go by your contraction pattern—once it becomes active and consistent,  I'll stay in close contact with you throughout early labor to make sure I arrive at the right time. Ultimately though, it’s your decision—if you want me there sooner, just say the word and I'll be on my way!

What are you like in the birth space?

As you prepare to welcome your baby earth side, my desire is to celebrate, elevate, hear and witness you and your growing family. With over a decade of experience in the perinatal world, I strive to bring a calm and grounded presence into your space— to witness and hold your birth with care. I quietly and respectfully document your story as it unfolds, offering gentle doula support if and when you need it. I want to allow you and your partner the freedom to be fully present with each other and your baby, knowing that the strength, intensity and quiet magic of your growing family is being beautifully captured.

WILL I HEAR A “CRACK OR POP” DURING MY ADJUSTMENT?

Sometimes, but that’s not our goal. Our mission is to work with your (or your kiddo’s) nervous system to increase your body’s ability to adapt to stress and function at its best.

Dr. Sara does this through a specific analysis of your nervous system and is known for being gentle and intuitive while firmly believing in bio-individuality. Sometimes she uses her hands for adjustments and sometimes she uses an instrument.

For infants, there’s never any fast movements, twisting, cracking, popping or instruments.
