There’s something about fall in the Teton Valley that feels absolutely magical- the golden light, the hint of crisp air and smell of dry leaves, the gentle hush of the mountains beginning to settle in for the winter.
There was nothing I didn’t love about this family session during a fall hike to Packsaddle Lake. It reminded me just why I love outdoor movement sessions so much; when we trade posing for presence and perfection for connection, everything just feels so much more alive.

Instead of starting with stiff poses, we simply began walking- and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. The path was calm, forest sky clear, and the fall colors were gorgeous.
The Packsaddle Lake Trail has quickly become one of my very favorites in the Teton Valley area. It’s an easy hike- only about 2 miles round trip, but it’s magical and quiet. The elevation gain is only about 330 ft making it a shorter, more accessible hike for littles as well.
We took our time on the trail, enjoying the beauty, taking in the view, and gently capturing a few images along the way.
We let the moment lead us and held space for their session to unfold naturally. These unscripted sessions have become my favorite to capture- they hold so much truth and allow for your story to tell itself.
